Interesting post. I've been thinking about this topic lately. I don't know too much about investing, so I've primarily invested in index funds. I've been thinking for some time now that I'd like to learn more so that I can diversify my investments, and hopefully increase my return - but I'd have to learn so much before I felt comfortable making other investments that I'm not sure the effort would be worth it.

I think this is fair enough. I know I spend a lot of extra time evaluating my portfolio, and not all of it produces any value. However, I enjoy doing it and the other activities I might otherwise do would not provide any additional value either.
